The way of liberation: Refining the art of practice and teaching towards effortless effort

30 Hours Liquid Flow Intensive with Simon Park

APRIL 25-28,2024

Yoga Alliance Approved and Open to Non-Teachers

"Zen Buddhism is a way and a view of life which does not belong to any of the formal categories of Western thought. It is not religion or philosophy; it is not psychology or a type of science. It is an example of what is known in India and China as a "way of liberation," and is similar in this respect to Taoism, Vedanta, and Yoga. As will soon be obvious, a way of liberation can have no positive definition. It has to be suggested by saying what it is not, somewhat as a sculptor reveals an image by the act of removing pieces of stone from a block".

- Alan Watts from " The Way of Zen "

What to expect.

To discover the potential power of Yoga practice as a path of liberation, it is important to release unhelpful patterns and habits. The complex mosaic of our body/mind systems functions with great precision and is constantly changing, forming and renewing. Thus, we can engage with the many facets of Yoga practice with great enthusiasm towards profound positive impact for ourselves and others.

  • We will examine the premise of 'natural posture', unique to each individual as the basis for our exploration of Yoga Asana. Teachings from Yoga anatomy such as the Iyengar method, fascial systems and sensory perception of movement (kinesthesiology) will be our guides to exploring somatic intelligence on and off the mat.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the dynamic actions required to make each pose vibrant and alive for the present moment. Within the platform of an immersive Yoga practice and complementary sessions, we will explore the principles that build the bridge from a simple to a more subtle practice of asana, pranayama, meditation, visualization, and positive thinking.

  • We begin each day with a complete vinyasa flow practice infused with physical and energetic alignment cues. The classes are designed with the principles of Vinyasa Krama, designed to teach complexity and precision in our body/mind progressively. In additional sessions, we will break down key poses by intelligently reading the body and learning hands-on assist that will refine our understanding of asanas and fluid movement.

  • Gain a better understanding of the physical and energetic principles from the Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Vinyasa systems. We will examine how the universal principles and the unique wisdom of each style, can greatly enhance our overall understanding of balance and energy flow. Thus, we enter into a more knowledgeable place to teach and assist students in a holistic way. Ultimately, we must make the teachings alive, as we adapt our teaching towards the unique needs of each student. Learn to adapt your teaching for classes and privates for all levels, integrating a deeper understanding of alignment to help your students safely grow in their practice. The immersion is designed for teachers from all traditions of yoga and open to students with the aim to deepen their self practice.

  • Become dedicated to moving away from scripted teaching toward creative artistry... the process of becoming absolutely present with your practice and teaching.
