Explore Movement as a creative practice

Beyond Asana is Davids personal take on the physical practice of yoga in contemporary times. We honour asana as a starting point, from which we explore a queer, multimodal approach to movement.

Flow is prioritised over posture, using movement patterns to reveal gaps in our awareness and develop grace. Engage with my suggestions as you wish, detours also encouraged. 

While we condition towards complexity and mobilise towards longevity, Beyond Asana celebrates movement as a creative practice. A space of wild permission where we expand our capacities for pleasure and expression through embodied connection with self, others and the environment.

For curious movers of any background looking to enrich their respective practices from the lens of intuition and expression, whether recreationally or professionally.

ABOUT DAVID KAM

David Kam (he/him) is a Malaysian movement artist, educator and speaker sharing queer practices of freedom and connection grounded in the philosophies of yoga, dance and architecture. He pitches movement as an expression between party and protest, a brave space #beyondasana to celebrate the joy of play and agency to combat oppression and cultivate collective care. David is currently an Activist in Residence at King’s College London researching the intersections of movement, migration and digital technologies while he continues to share movement masterclasses, lectures, workshops and retreats across leading dance and wellness institutions, prioritising marginalised communities in London and abroad.
